Darebin Community & Kite Festival 2019
2019 Darebin Community & Kite Festival
Edwardes Lake Park
corner Edwardes and Griffiths Streets, Reservoir
Sunday 24 March 2019, 11am-4pm.
The Darebin Community and Kite Festival – Darebin’s largest annual festival – returns to Edwardes Lake Park, Reservoir this Sunday 24 March.
A fun, free and immersive event, Darebin Community & Kite Festival presents a range of activities for all ages including performances, workshops, kids’ art and craft activities, storytelling, community and food stalls, and of course, kite flying!
Of course no Kite Festival would be complete without the Darebin Pet Expo, featuring a Pooch Parade, education sessions on responsible pet ownership, competitions and free show bags.
Please download the full program here.
We encourage Festival-goers to travel green and leave the car at home. Why not ride to the event and park your bike in style at our onsite bike valet service? Mechanics from WeCycle will also run free safety checks, lube chains and pump tyres, and there’s a bike decoration station and parade for the kids.
Buses will replace trains on the Mernda line between Bell and Epping from 12.30am on Saturday 23 March to the last train on Sunday 24 March. Passengers heading to Kite Festival can catch a train replacement bus service to Reservoir Station.
Single-Use Plastic Policy
In line with Council’s Single-use Plastic Free Events policy, bottled water will not be sold at this year’s Kite Festival. There will be plenty of free drinking water available or you can visit the Green Music Water Bottle library on site to borrow a water bottle for the day. We also encourage you to bring your own reusable coffee cup to reduce waste on the day.
Access and Inclusion
City of Darebin is committed to making the Festival accessible to people of all abilities. Please download our Access Guide that details access assistance and services available for people living with disability, blind or low vision and people who are Deaf or hard of hearing.
Please download our Access Guide here.
The Darebin Community & Kite Festival is welcoming of and sensitive to people who may benefit from a more relaxed environment. There will be spaces available to those who need to take a moment away from the hustle and bustle and all activities.
