Speakeasy Development Applications
NOW OPEN: Applications for development during July - December 2019
The Darebin Arts Speakeasy Development program supports artists by providing access to space. Developments should be for a new artistic work that has performance at the heart of its creation.
Artists are given the opportunity to develop a new work within on of our venue studios or meeting rooms. Creative Development dates are subject to venue availability. They can vary from script readings, physical work, exploration and rehearsals showings. As detailed in the Creative Darebin Arts Strategy 2014 – 2021 – we program high quality work from artistic leaders and companies in the small to medium sector to be an integral part of the cultural ecology of Melbourne and Australia’s artistic landscape.
Applications are now open for the latest round of this highly successful program. Development space is available at both Northcote Town Hall Arts Centre and Darebin Arts Centre. The two venues’ available spaces include: the Northcote Town Hall Main Hall, Studio 1 and Studio 2, and Darebin Arts Centre.
Please note: All artists and companies are encouraged to apply, you do not have to be a Darebin resident. This program is for developments between July and December 2019. Please carefully consider what venue and dates to apply for as once successful applicants have allocated venue dates, this can only be changed once and the change is subject to the availability of Northcote Town Hall Arts Centre and Darebin Arts Centre venues which are in high demand. Works are not obliged to have an intended final presentation outcome in Darebin, however, Darebin City Council holds first right of refusal for presentations resulting from all developments that are offered a stipend.
