Qualia by Heidi Everett
WORK IN DEVELOPMENT
Have you spent 24 hours in a public psych ward? It’s confronting. Vulnerable people are trying to navigate trauma, confined and imprisoned in an equally traumatising medical space. What if you’re Deaf? Or there for the first time? How do you communicate, if you don’t speak the language of a psychiatric ward and it doesn’t speak yours?
Qualia is a new theatre work in development by multi-disciplinary artist and producer, Heidi Everett. Working with a team of diverse artists, Qualia explores the disparate experiences of three people within the mental health system. Through humour, storytelling and living experience, Qualia brings to light the complexities of this space and the people within it.
