Speakeasy Performance Development Program
Darebin Art’s Speakeasy is now looking to program our 3rd season of Comedy Festival performances at the Northcote Town Hall.
We are on the hunt for shows that utilize the theatricality of our spaces, that aren’t necessarily straight forward stand-up, including cabaret, spoken word, contemporary performance, children’s work and shows that are unclassifiable but deeply weird and hilarious. Whilst we do welcome stand up shows to apply we want to know what makes it different, brave and unique? We create a program of work that is significantly different to the Melbourne Town Hall in its curatorial nature and vibe. The Darebin Arts’ Speakeasy program for the Comedy Festival celebrates risk and exploration in comedy.
Applications are due midday 31st October
The Speakeasy Performance Development Program was launched in 2013 and aims to support our artistic community by providing opportunities for professional development.
The program supports the presentation and creation of new performance work, enables artists and groups to participate in and contribute to creative works presented in Darebin, and provides mentoring opportunities and studio rehearsal space.
Applications for the program open twice a year and are sought from artists and companies who aim to develop work that is exciting, adventurous and of high quality. Preference is given to projects that have direct outcomes for Darebin residents and communities. All new application opportunities will be announced on this page when open.
